Xerox Teens - Xerox Teens EP

Xerox Teens are a difficult one; another band that work much better live than on CD. They are deliriously charismatic to watch but in the past this hasn't transferred well to a recording. Their EP, however improves upon previous efforts; Darlin', the first track on this four track EP sounds like drunken early morning Brixton rave. Unfortunately for me steel pans bring back nightmares of school, but steel pan noises aside, Darlin' is like an iridescent 90's acid party.

My Favourite Hat gently sways us away from the mayhem of the first track, while still sounding ravey and mellow like an early Happy Mondays. This is followed by Sun Comes Up which opens with what sounds like a drill before adopting an indie drum and bass sound similar to that of Bloc Party.

Xerox Teens are not afraid to experiment with their sound in a way similar to Avalanches and it is genuinely difficult to place them into a genre, in fact it would probably do them an injustice, just enjoy them for what they are.
