Neils Children - Another Day

Flicking through some old issues of the short lived ‘X Ray magazine' yesterday – I found some articles on Neils Children in 2004…and it got me wondering what ever happened to them. Had they faded into obscurity? Had they given up and gotten day jobs? Listening to this single – I'm proud to say that the answer is no to both.

Title track ‘Another Day' is about as catchy as a pop song can get. It's got all the components…but I can't help but feel that there's missing something; the ‘punch' that would make this a great song. Second track ‘Something you said' is angular and equally catchy; laden with energetic vocals and toe-tapping drums.

Third track ‘Enough of trying' is a bit of a let down…an acoustic number with some unsteady vocals, probably the sort of thing Neils Children should stay away from.

Despite a shaky third track, this single sees a good return to form for Neils Children – and hopefully, a successful year. They deserve it.
