Liam Frost and The Slowdown Family - The City Is At Standstill

Its all to easy to write off anything that doesnt set the world on fire but some records need time to be fully appreciated and the new 3 track from Liam Frost And The Slowdown Family is one of those records. At first it seems to be just another jangly pop folk offering in the same ilk as The Coral or I Am Kloot which, while being very nice, isnt anything we havent heard before. Give it time, however and it becomes something quite beautiful. Liam's lyrical spectrum seems to range from what, at times, leaves a lot to be desired to what can only be described as pure poetry.

He seems to be an artist still finding his feet in a genre thats been unfairly painted with the MOR brush. The never ending stream of incomprehensible chart toppers like Blunt and Thom have made it tough for new acoustic artists to retain credibility within the indie crowd. Perhaps the emergence of a genuine talent will revitalise British acoustic music and perhaps Liam is the one to do it. I dont know but well certainly be hearing more from Mr. Frost and his Slowdown Family.
