The Far Cries - Stepping / The Edge (Double A Side)

The Far Cries debut single has left me underwhelmed and hasn't prompted me to go to the 'live dates' section of their myspace. Wannabe heavy riffs, 'distorted' male and female vocals, poor drumming and an unflattering, abrupt ending all go against this song. Second track, The Edge starts off with a more positive feel with keyboards similar to the sounds of Fans of Kate, but when the chorus sets in, again I'm unmoved. Inspired by London architecture, they're attempt sounds like the city's monotonous daily grind is some justification for its dreary sound.
